In June 2024, Taco Bueno launched Tacos With a Purpose, a community-led initiative inviting guests to round up their purchases to support survivors of domestic violence. One year later, the program has surpassed expectations — raising an extraordinary $437,593.58 in donations.
This milestone reflects the strength of collective action and the power of purpose-driven dining.
A Year of Purpose and Progress
In June 2024, Taco Bueno introduced Tacos With a Purpose, a community-led initiative designed to turn small gestures into meaningful impact. By inviting guests to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar, the program made it easy for thousands of people across Texas and Oklahoma to support survivors of domestic violence. Now, one year later, we proudly celebrate a major milestone: $437,593.58 raised through the power of everyday generosity.
Impact Across Two States
The success of this initiative has been driven by the commitment of our guests, team members, and nonprofit partners. In Texas, The Family Place received $270,114.30, enabling over 27,000 nights of safe shelter for families in crisis. These donations also provided 135,000 nutritious meals, supported more than a year of operation for the 24-hour crisis hotline, and funded one month of quality childcare for over 500 children. The steady support helped The Family Place maintain operational stability and expand its reach with confidence.
Simplicity That Drives Change
What makes Tacos With a Purpose so impactful is its simplicity. Guests aren’t asked for large donations — just a few cents, rounded up at checkout. Yet these contributions, made collectively across Taco Bueno locations, have created a ripple effect that has changed lives. The program has shown that generosity doesn’t have to be grand to be powerful. Every transaction, every meal, every “yes” at the register has helped create a safer future for survivors.
As we enter the second year of Tacos With a Purpose, Taco Bueno remains committed to growing the program’s reach and deepening its impact. We’re developing new campaigns, strengthening partnerships, and exploring ways to inspire even more engagement from our community.
